Kirsty Rankine, Core Process Psychotherapy

Introduction

My name is Kirsty and I am an accredited psychotherapist practising in Beckenham, London. I have experience in working with people suffering from a range of issues including stress, anxiety, depression and experiences of trauma or abuse. I have worked with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientations and I see individuals on both a short and long term basis. I am committed to offering a safe, warm and supportive therapeutic space.

I trained in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute and received my Master's qualification from Middlesex University. I am accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). In addition, I am a member of the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists (ACPP). I abide by the Code of Ethical Practice of these organisations.

Issues I Work With

There can be various reasons to have therapy. Some people come to work on a particular issue such as low self-worth, social anxiety or relationship problems. Others come with a general feeling of unhappiness or a sense that something isn’t quite right. Some people would like support whilst they go through a life transition such as a career change.

Issues I have experience in working with include:

  • Problems with anxiety, sadness, anger or shame
  • Depression
  • Loss & bereavement
  • Eating disorders
  • Panic attacks
  • Stress
  • Self-harming or suicidal thoughts
  • Feeling stuck & unable to achieve things
  • Issues with self-esteem, confidence & assertiveness
  • Obsessive thinking, paranoia & compulsive behaviours
  • Feeling cut-off, alone or isolated
  • Relationship issues
  • Recovery from trauma & abuse (sexual, physical, emotional)
  • Sexual issues (e.g. loss of desire, shame or addiction to porn or sex)

What I Offer

I aim to provide a compassionate and supportive environment in which you can experience acceptance and understanding as we unravel the difficulties you are going through. Being listened to with respect, sensitivity and non-judgement can help alleviate the intensity of difficulties and create a 'breathing space' out of which new possibilities can emerge.

I would also support you in becoming more aware of the issues you experience, which can lead to deeper insight and self-understanding. Paying attention to the different factors involved in an issue can illuminate and integrate things that may have previously felt disconnected or confusing. As things become clearer and make more sense, you may start to feel more empowered and less overwhelmed. The process can also reveal different ways of doing things, ways which may feel more aligned to how you would like to be. Alongside this, we can spend time developing your confidence to trust and follow what is right for you.
